Lightning struck the tree in Maria's backyard twice.

Here's Maria's poem about it:

It was as if I dreamed again of lightning
And, upon coming home, had proof
Strips of bark, larger than the first,
Scattered on the ground,
and on the roof --
strips as long and as wide as my arm.

How good are the odds of this happening twice?
Why this tree?
How long before the lightning finds me?
